RV Camping - Beginner's Guide to RVs and Motorhomes

Class C Motor Homes

General Description

Class C Motor Home
The Class C Motor Home, sometimes referred to as a mini-motorhome, offers the conveniences and many of the amenities of the larger Class A motorhome, but in a scaled-down version and at a lower price.

Constructed on an automotive manufactured van frame with an attached cab section designed especially for the Class C, the Class C Motor Home provides a smooth ride and a comfortable RV camping experience.

Specifications

  • Size: 20 to 28 feet
  • Cost: Average cost of $57,500
  • Price Range: Prices vary greatly, from as low as $42,000 to over $125,000
  • Sleeps: Up to 6 people, depending upon make and model

Features:

  • Generally smaller than a Class A motorhome, the Class C motorhome offers ample living space and privacy. The unit is equipped with the full kitchen, dining, sleeping and bathroom facilities found in the conventional Class A motorhome, and can include many of the amenities desirable for comfortable family living. The ample living space and generous features make it a perfect selection for weekend getaways and extended vacations.
  • The Class C motorhome often comes equipped with a sleeping bunk atop the drive cab in addition to a bedroom in the back of the camper. When not used for sleeping, the overhead compartment provides a nice storage area.
  • A common feature on Class C motorhomes is the slideout. At the touch of a button, the slideout moves a portion of the RVs exterior wall outward as much as 3-1/2 feet to enlarge the living, dining, sleeping or even kitchen area. When the slideout is extended, the space protrudes beyond the normal outside walls of the RV, like an addition on a conventional home.
  • Like the Class A motorhome, the Class C motorhome is ideal for all-around family travel as the full living quarters, and all systems, are easily accessible and fully functional throughout the trip. Passengers can sleep, eat, read, watch TV, play video games while traveling, and use the bathroom is available with ease.
  • The towing capacity of the Class C motorhome is less than that of the Class A motorhome, though many Class C owners still tow a smaller vehicle. For those with larger families and tighter budgets, the Class C Motor Home may be the ideal selection.
